Compliance Training Essentials

This version takes 30 minutes to deliver, including introductions and questions. It ensures that attendees are clear on the basic principles of data protection and their own responsibilities. This includes supporting SARs, recording breaches and taking proactive action to improve data protection.

Compliance Training Extended

This version takes 60 minutes to deliver and provides the opportunity to include slightly more depth on subjects like Privacy Notices, examples of breaches and the importance of spotting subject access requests in good time. If there are questions to be raised to the floor this can be accomodated. It is recommended that the ability to ask questions is flagged well in advance and if possible questions can be prenotified. However, questions of the moment are fine too.

It is likely that attendees will come away with a broader understanding of the topic in addition to the essential actions required.

Data Protection Group Training

This training normally runs from 09:00 – 16:00 and is delivered to the group of individuals who are involved in the day to day administration of data protection. It holds back some of the historical and legislative elements of data protection in preference for very practical focus on the main tasks that must be delivered. Documentation of the regime, responding to data subject requests, responding to data breaches.

For public bodies we can either condense the coverage to enable a session to be added on the Freedom of Information Act, or it can be run as a standalone session on the following day.

The day is busy with beoth theory and practical tasks. It can be spread over two days of delivery if participants can give the time.

Data Protection Leadership Training

This training is a condensed version of a programme that a Data Protection Officer would need to follow. Although it does delve more deeply into the Legislation, it is still very much practically focused. In some organisations only part of one person’s time can be dedicated to data protection, for this reason it contains much of the material about managing data breaches and subject access requests.

We also spend time on subjects like, data protection impact assessments, data mapping and the broader responsibilities of representing the organisation. As an example we look in more depth at how to write a report for the ICO if a breach crosses the line. In addition we spend some time looking at the use of exclusions in both subject access requests and if appropriate, freedom of information requests.

The course is followed bu some independent study and a written assessment. We are in the process of having the assessment validated for CPD.
